To mark Uppsala Pride, Uppsala Art Museum is hosting a creative workshop with the artist Stuart Mayes, where you can make your own fabric banner.
Together we’ll work with colour, fabric, appliqués and sequins to create symbols, messages and expressions that celebrate love, community and diversity. Whether you want to create something personal, political or playful, you’re welcome to take part.
Stuart Mayes’ current exhibition Following Eugène: A Spring Outing takes its inspiration from the life of the artist Eugène Jansson and explores how a series of early 20th-century paintings can be seen as a queer message of love at a time when homosexual acts were a criminal offence.
All materials will be provided and no prior experience is required.
Participants: Ages 16 and over are welcome!
